This stage is the most anticipated and significant for all teams. After subjecting our model to a strict technical inspection, we took part in two types of races:
Speed Races
This race consists of the car completing a 20-metre straight track in the shortest possible time. To account for any variations between lanes or environmental factors, a total of four runs were carried out (two in each lane). In this test, only the engineering of the car was taken into consideration, with human reaction times having no influence.
We managed to break the competition’s timing records and were awarded the title of the fastest car in Andalusia, thanks to the excellent stability and top speed of our single-seater, which reached over 70 km/h in less than one second.
Disqualifying Races
This sub-stage is the most spectacular and the one in which, in addition to the race time, human reaction time is key and decisive for the team’s qualification.
Unlike the timed race stages, the car’s start was not automated. Instead, a team member—in this case, Luis—held the trigger that activated the launch.
This event more closely resembled real racing, as a driver from each team faced off and had to focus on the starting lights. If the driver pressed the trigger before the start signal, it was penalized as a false start; if they reacted a few milliseconds too late, the opposing team would gain an advantage over us.

Here we faced a team that had recorded slightly better times than ours in previous heats; however, we managed to take first place by the tiny—and at the same time enormous—margin of 0.02 milliseconds.
Thanks to the results obtained in these tests, as well as our excellent scores in the technical scrutineering and corporate areas, we were crowned Overall Winners of the STEM Racing Spain Regional Round.
